TAUPO TIMBER LANDS.
RESERVATION OF RIGHTS. INTERESTS OF DAIRY FARMERS. [I!Y TELEGRAM. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WELLINGTON, Wednesday. A deputation from tho Egmont Box Company, in which several thousand dairy farmers in tho North Island are interested as members of co-operative dairy companies, interviewed the Hon. G. W. Forbes, Minister of Lands and Agriculture, regarding the company's position in relation to West Taupo forest lands. The object of the deputation was to securo an assurance from tho Government that, in whatever action was taken, the interests of the Egmont Box Company's shareholders would not be prejudiced but that their rights would be preserved. Mr. Forbes gavo tho deputation a sympathetic reply, pointing out that the whole matter had been before Parliament. Tho recommendations of the Native Affairs Committee were being carried out, and ho. could assure the deputation that there was no intention on tho part of the Government to take advantage nf the situation. Ifo undertook to bring before the notice of Sir Aoirana Ngafa, Minister of Native Affairs, the points raised by the deputation and to confer with him on the whole subject.
