LEAGUE OF MOTHERS.

CITY BRANCH,

The progress of education in India, particularly in regard to women and girls, was interestingly dealt with in a brief address given by Mrs. W. McDonald, at the monthly meeting of tho city branch of tho League of Mothers, which was held yesterday afternoon at the Myers' Kindergarten. Mrs. P. A. Lindsay presided. Following Mrs. McDonald's address, a humorous sketch was given by Miss Ella Matthews, which was greatly enjoyed. Afternoon tea was served by tho following members of the committee; Mrs. W. M. Passmore, Mrs. John Reid, 'Mrs. Horace Elliott, Miss Gerrie, Mrs. T. Purdom, Mrs. C. West, Mrs. F W Matthews, Mrs. C. H. Tewsley, Mrs. Keith Macky, Mrs. Webster and Mrs. Waiuwright.

TAKAPUNA

Tho Takapuna branch of tho League of Mothers held its monthly meeting at tho parish hall yesterday afternoon, Mrs. Bartrum presiding. 'There was a good attendance of members and among tho visitors were Mrs. J. T. F. Mitchell, provincial president, and .Mrs. Chowings, Southland provincial president. Father Kennedy, of Takapuna, spoko on the sanctity of marriage, and Miss Margot Tral'ford gave'fi musical monologue, 'lea was served by Mrs. Trafford, Mrs. Walts, Mrs Evorton and Mrs. Redding.
