Tho May Synod of the South Auckland Methodist district was opened in Kotorua last evening. Tho president, Ecv. W. A. Burlcy, of Thames, opened the proceedings, lie said ho understood that this was tho first synod of i<e kind to be held in Rotorua..

Tho Mayor, Mr. T. Jackson, welcomed the visitors. Ho said he was glad the synod was being held in Rotorua. In this ago it was well to be reminded that man did not live by bread alone. There wero 21 delegates from the South Auckland district. Tho Hev. E. P. Blamires gave a lino address on "Does the Church Count in the Community?" and a fine musical programme was given by members of the church choir.
