INQUIRY TO BE HELD.

(Received Ma.7 11, 6.5 p.m.) DELHI, May 10. At tho request of tho Maharaja of Patiala, one of the best known and richest of the Indian princes, an inquiry will be held into statements made in a recent publication entitled, "An Indictment of Patiala" The Maharaja states that theso accusations were made by powerful and unscrupulous enemies.

Tho Maharaja of Patiala, Major-General •Farzand-i-Khas-i-Daulat, premier ruling ■Prince of the Punjab, was born in 1891 •and succeeded to the title in 1900. He Served in the Great War, and represented •India in tho War Cabinet. He represented India at the League of Nations to 1925. He was created G.C.S.I, and G.C.V.O. His State has a population of about 1,500,000 arid his revenue is more than £840,000.
