FARM HAND'S INJURIES.
ACCIDENT NEAR PAPAKURA.
Fatal injuries were received by Mr. Thomas Griffin, a single man, aged 29, as a result of being thrown from his horse between Papakura and Alfrist.cn at about four o'clock on Saturday alternoon. Mr. Griffin, who was suffering from a fracture of.the skull, was taken to his homo by a passing motorist and was laio.r attended by Dr. W. G. Bridgman, of Papakura, who ordered his removal to the Auckland Hospital. Ho was admitted at 11 o'clock yesterday morning and died at 4.15 in the afternoon.
In company with Mr. Harold Walker, Mr. Griffin was riding homo from Papakura to Alfriston, when his horse stumbled, throwing him heavily. He was employed as a farm hand by Mr. V. Poland, of Alfriston, and had no relations in New Zealand.
An inquest will be opened this morning,

RIDER'S FRACTURED RIBS
A youth named Robert Reid Bremner, a farm hand, aged 18, who lives at Port Albert, received several fractured ribs yesterday afternoon when a horso he was riding at Wellsford suddenly reared. The rider was thrown heavily, falling on a gate through which he was about to pass. He was brought by train to Mount Eden station, where a St. John Ambulance was waiting. He was taken to the hospital, where his condition was stated last evening to bo not serious.
