WOMEN'S INSTITUTE.
MAT ATA. Tho monthly meting of tho Women's Institute was held last Thursday, Mrs. Withy presiding. Several members of the Manawahe Women's Institute were visitors to the meeting. Tho roll-call brought forward sonio very ancient treasures, some being over two hundred years old. Tho competition for the best posy was won by Mrs. A. Burt. Mrs. Wilson gave a. very interesting demonstration of triplex needlework. , Mrs. King, one of the original members of (lie institute, who is leaving tho district, was farewelled, and Mrs. Withy presented her with a handbag from the members. Afternoon tea was dispensed bv flip hostesses. TE AWAMUTU. Tho monthly meeting of the Women's Institute was held in tho parish hall recently. The president, Mrs. J. S. Ashmore, presided. Demonstrations in fancy needle work were given by Mesdames McAlister, Vincent, and Miss Savill. Miss Wynyard gave a short talk upon education. Mrs. Judge, of Puahuo, sang two songs, and Mrs Shultz played a pianoforte, solo. Mesdames Bevin and Tailby were hostesses.
