OTAHUHU NEWS.

The Otahuhu Brownie Pack celebrated its third birthday by a social gathering held in tho parish hall. Items were provided by the small guests and games of great variety were played. The president, Mrs. A. Murdoch, on behalf of the patroness, Mrs. T. Clements, presented the brown owl, Miss Gladys Watkins, with tokens of appreciation of tho work done during the year. Afterwards Mrs. Clements made presentations to the president and tho secretary, Mrs. K. Reid. Before dispersing each little brownie and cub received a small gift as a memento of the occasion.

Tho Otahuhu Public Hall was gaily decorated with a canopy of coloured streamers for the annual dance of the Otahuhu Hockey Club, held last week. A programme of dance music was played by the Snappy Six and Mr. 'I idtnarch provided extras. Messrs. W. Nield and R V. Saul were in charge of the floor arrangements. The nou-danccrs were catered for with a progressive euchre tournament in charge of Mr. C. G. Culpan. The successful competitors were Mrs. McAnulty, Mrs. .Allanson, Mrs. Whale, Messrs. A. Miller, B. McKenzio and A. Campbell. Mr. R. E. Batty and Mr. J. Cook tied for second place and in the play off Mr. Campbell won with Mr. Batty.

A social was given by> tho committee of tho local Girl Guides tin the Station Road Hall at Papatoetoo on Thursday. There was a large attendance and the arrangements were successfully carried out by Mesdames T. Y. C. Partridge, J. J. Valentine, Richards and I'. I'. Lair. Stalls were in charge of Mesdames A. W. Hall and Valentine (calces), and Misses Joyce Knight and D. de Ath (sweets). In charge of the supper were Mesdames A. G. Grinter, McComb, Rayncr, W. J. Hindman, Kay, R. Gubb and Robinson. A programme of entertainments was provided by Miss J. Sniytheman, Miss May Wilson, Mrs. Carr, Miss Leah Rosovearo and Dr. Valentine.
