LEAGUE OF MOTHERS.

POXSONBY BRANCH, At their meeting 'held in the Leys Institute on Wednesday afternoon, the members of the Ponsonby branch of the Leaguo of Mothers spent a very enjoyable afternoon with their guests, the members of the All Saints' Mothers' Union. Mrs. R. W. Williams, branch president, welcomed Mrs. Averill, president of the AH Saints' Mothers' Union, and the members of her branch, who were present. She specially welcomed the vicar, the Rev. XV. Averill, who later addressed the meeting. Other guests mentioned were Mrs. J F. F. Mitchell, provincial president of the league, and Mrs. Harvey, of Mount Albert, the latter giving much pleasure with her vocal items. Mr. Averill in his address stressed the need of religious training in early years. Members of the Mothers' Union and of the League of Mothers, working together for a common ideal, held in their hands a wonderful instrument for good, he said. Mrs. Mitchell expressed tho pleasure it gavo her to see the members of these two sister organisations, meeting together in such a happy fellowship. Afternoon tea was served and a social half-hour brought a very successful meeting to a close. WAIMAUKU.

The usual monthly meeting of the Waimauku branch of tho League of Mothers took place last week in the Coronation Hall. The president of the branch, Mrs. T. Charter, presided. Mrs. Charter read a paper sent by Mrs. J. T. F. Mitchell, of Auckland, provincial president, entitled, " Tho Christian Ideal of Marriage." An invitation was received by the local branch inviting it to join the Auckland branches at the Town Hall ori May 20 in extending a welcome to Lady Bledisloo. Mrs. P. J. Bell was appointed corresponding secretary with other branches. A duet* was sung by Mis. A. Tate and Mrs. J. Adkins. Mrs. C. Jackson read a selection from C. J. Dennis and a paper was read by Mrs. If. Cane. Afternoon tea, which was served by (ho hostesses for afternoon, Mrs. D. Lennox, Mrs. C. McFarquhar and Mrs. It. Matherson, brought a very enjoyable meeting In a, cjpse.

EPSOM. The monthly meeting of tho Epsom branch of tho League of Mothers was held in tho Baptist Church Hall, Inverness Avenue, on Thursday afternoon. Mrs. 'l'. H. Mackv presided over the attendance. Miss N". Cramon, lato of Dumferline Physical Culture College, Scotland, was tlni speaker. Her subject was " Life's Greatest Asset—Your Health," in which was stressed the supreme valuo in the modern stress of living of correct posture. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mrs. A. Jones and Mrs. Barbour.
