OUTLOOK IN AUSTRALIA. - BETTER TIMES AHEAD. Textile manufacturers from every Australian State at n conference which concluded in Sydney recently ixpvessed satisfaction with the increased protection afforded their industry. It was generally agreed Hint manufacturers would regard the increased tariff protection mainly as a means of giving better service to the Australian public. Sympathy was expressed with woolgrowers. who had been passit.g through times of stress, but the opinion was expressed that there would lie a further moderate finning of values, especially for Merino wool, within the next f-.t'W months. After the conference the president, Mr. E. It. Williams (Victoria), said that the restricted purchasing power of the people, together with the avalanche 01. recent imports still unsold, was giving textile manufacturers acute concern. Large pxtensions of plant had been embarked upon before the depression began, and many spindles aid looms were now idle..
