CONDITIONS OF LIVING.
MAN AND WOMAN SENT TO GAOL
A charge of being idle and disorderly, and having insufficient lawful means of support was denied by John Holmes, aged 50. when lie appeared in the Police Court, on Saturday beforo Mr. F. Iv. Hunt., S.M.
Constable Christiansen said that ac-t-used had made a perfect pest of himself. lie hung about hotels, had no means, and was usually in a dirty condition.
Ar ling-Detective Moore said lie line! had accused under observation for about three months. He did no work and wandered about the. town in a maudlin condition. "He is continually about the streets and caches cigarettes and beer," said Ohief-Detectivo Hammond. "When hu gets drunk nobody can speak (o him. as ho becomes so abusive." Accused was sentenced to three months' imprisonment. A similar charge was preferred against Mary Lees, aged 43, who pleaded guilty. Still-Inspector Shanahaii said accused had been associating with people recently convicted on similar charges. She habitually loafed about in llobson and (look Streets. "That will get tho drink out of her." said tho magistrate, in sentencing accused to one month's imprisonment.
