SCULPTOR'S SUCCESS.

HONOUR FOR AUCKLANDER.

Advico has been received from England by Mr. R. O Gross, the Auckland sculptor, that ho has been elected a member of (ho Royal Society of British Sculptors. lie is probably the first New Zoalander to receive this honour.

.Mr. Gross was recently commissioned to execute the equestrian statue for the. war memorial to lie erected at Wellington. While he was in England attending to this, lie saw many eminent sculptors and critics, who gavo his work high praise.

Mr. Gross was responsible for the war memorial at the Auckland Grammar School, which is regarded as one of lii 3 finest achievements,
