SUBURBAN BURGLARIES.
CASH TAKEN FROM BEDROOM.
OCCUPANTS AT HOME AT TIME. The sum of £lB in banknotes was stolen by an intruder who entered a bedroom at the heme of Mr. C. Eaves, at 34, Chester Avenue, Grey Lynn, while three people were sleeping in tho room. When the theft was discovered the next morning, it was found that the thief had apparently slept in the wash-house. Entrance was gained through an open window in the bedroom, where a woman and two children were sleeping. The woman and one child were deaf and dumb, as were the other occupants of the house except ono was given a good opportunity to search the house thoroughly. The money, which consisted of two £5 notes and eight £1 notes, was taken from a drawer, considerable force having been used to break the lock. Tho sum represented the result of hard saving. In tho morning, when the burglary was discovered, it was found that a bed had been mado in tho wash-house by placing old coats on tho floor and using a bundle of clothing as a pillow. Half a loaf of bread and half a pound of butter had beon stolen from the kitchen. A small sum of money was stolen from the home of Mrs. G. Easton, at 32, St. John's Avenue, Epsom, by a thief who searched the premises while there were occupants in the house. Only a small sum of money was fgund in two purses, which were later picked up in the grounds of tho house.
The burglar gained access through a window, from which he crossed a passage to a bedroom without being heard.
