HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST

The following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to day was supplied lo us by Mr. If. M. Vincent last evening:—Fair to cloudy weather is indicated, with scattered showers, especially iu western and southern districts. Southwesterly winds, moderate to strong, hacking to east shortly in northern areas. Seas moderate. Tlio recent disturbance has passed rapidly eastward, and a new high barometric pressure system has taken its place. Conditions are still disturbed, however, on the northern Tasman Sea. Local outlook: Mainly fair to fine, but an occasional shower is likely. Barometer, midnight rising .. 30.20 in. Midnight, Saturday .. .. 30.10 in.

GOVERNMENT REPORT. Tho dovernment meteorologist roportod last evening as follows: —A slight low pressure ■wave crossed southern Now land earlv this morning, and another one is advancing over the southern Tasaitin Sea. Weather conditions are and will continue to be controlled, however, mainly by an anti-cvelone, which extends between tho Dominion and Australia. Indications are for moderate southerly winds north of Capo Egmont and Castiepoint, elsewhere moderate westerly to southwesterly, freshening at times. Seas generally smooth to moderate, but rathci rough on tho Otago coast. L\ght and variable winds in the northern portion of tho eastern Tasman Sea, moderate to fresh westerly to south-westerly in tho southern portion. Seas smooth to moderate. Weather mainly fair to fine, but somo isolated showers probable in the northern and southern'extremities of tho Dominion, and also in South Westland. Cool night, but mild day temperatures.
