HORORATA RACES.

THE FIELDS FOR TO-DAY.

STARSHOOTER'S CUP CHANCE,

LARGE TROTTING ACCEPTANCES.

Except in tb© two trotting events fields at the Hororata Racing Club s annual meeting to-day will be smill. Our Canterbury correspondent telegraphs that tho weather does not promise to be fine but that iu any case the going should be good. Following is tho list of acceptances with a review of tho prospects by our correspondent:— TRIAL PLATE. Of £80; 5 fur. st. lb. fit. lb. Retrieve ...80 Appeal . . ~ . 8 0 Argyle ....90 Night Recital 8 0 Royal Heritage 8 0 Greaves .... 8 0 .Weather Raid 8 0 Appeal's recent form makes him, a likely proposition and his only trouble may come from Night Recital, a two-year-old halfbrother by Night Raid to Gay Sonnet.

SANDOWN HACK, ' Of £9O; C fur. fit. lb. et. lb. Sea Raid ... 810 Giggloswick . 7 4 Solmuri . . . 712 Miss Bradbury 7 2 Taragona ... 7 6 Rapina .... 7 Giggleswick will be in demand, and if he leaves the mark favourably his pace should trouble the opposition. Sea Raid has not raced up to track form thiß season, otherwise her prospects look good. Solmuri, if not reserved for later in the day, will also attract support.

G LEND ORE TROT. Of £OO (limit 3.42'; 1} miles

Patsy deOro . Lt. Willie Derby . . Lt. Cora Locanda . Lt. Lord Matchlight Lt. Pageant. d'Or . .Lt. Royal Chenault Lt. Nancy McKinney Lt. Brent Elect . • Lt. Romanos . . . Lt. Little Victor . . Lt. Harold Denver Lt. bhd Buchlight . . . Lt. Snowy Huon . . 12 Adjuster . . . Lt. Lydie Pointer . 12 White Stranger Lt. George Rey . „ 24 Colorado . . . Lt. Devon Child • . -4 Brown Logan . Lt. HORORATA CUP, Of £110; li miles. et. lb. at- lb Gay Sonnet . . 8 13 Starsliooter k . 7 9 Malmsey ... 8 2 Revision .... 7 0 Aberfeldy ... 7 13

In spite of the small field there should be a close contest. Gay Sonnet is very well just now and the distance will not trouble her. Malmsey has been doing easy work in Bpile of her ailments, but a hard track will not assist her. Aberfeldy, who will have the services of I. Tilson, cannot be disregarded. Starshooter, howeyer, appears to be tho select of the field, and will probably bo better supported than Gay Sonnet and Aberfeldy.

BANGOR HIGH-WEIGHT, Of £9O; 1 mile, st. lb. st lb. Chickwheat . . 10 8 Gala Day ... 0 13 Gold Mint . . 10 4 After Ten ~90 Troilus .... 9 13 Solmuri .... 9 0 Chickwheat is capable of winning, but there is always a doubt about him in a race. Gold Mint is as yet backward and on yesterday's gallop will be held safe by liis stable-mate After Ten, who, however, may not be produced. Gala Day has made a. good recovery from his recent accident and his pace should tako him a long way. Troilus i? a possibility, whila if Solmuri is reserved he will command respect. Gala Day, Troilus and Solmuri make moat appeal. BRACKENDALE HANDICAP, Of £9O; 7 fur. st.lb. st. lb. Buoyant . . . 8 6 Solgele .... 7 7 Courtliko ... 7 9 Tripaway ...77! Buoyant's form at Timaru points to bis prospects and Courtliko Eeems to be his most dangerous opponent. SNOWDEN TROT. Of A'9s (limit 5.0); 2 miles. Derby Pointer . Lt. Yds. bhd. Brown Logan . Lt. Princa Chimes . 12 Kanieri .... Lt. Devon Child. . 36 Brent Elect . . Lt. Mat Voyago • • GO White Stranger Lt. Great deOro . . GO Major Brent . . Lt. Aubrey Dillon . 72 Lady Alice . . Lt. Sea Raid ... 813 Royal Heritage 7 6 Sapient ... 8 6 Miss Bradbury 7 6 Revision ... 7 13 Sea Raid is to make her second appearance in this race, and will. probably be a better favourite than Revision and Sapient.
