LITTLE BUSINESS IN .WHEAT.

[hy telegraph.—press association.] CHRISTCHURCH. Friday. There is little business passing in wheat and millers are not operating on the market. The oats'market is firm for April-Sep-tember. A grade Cartons are quoted here at 3s lOd f.0.b., s.i., while prompts are available at Dunedin and lnvercargiU at 3s 9Ad. The yield of oats in the South is particularly pood this year and the shortago of supplies evident in Canterbury will bo largely offset by the outstanding yields in the Pouth. B grade Cartons are quoted at 3's 9d f.0.b., s.i. Tho chaff market is practically at a standstill.

Tho potato market is still very weak, with little business passing. There are still a fair number of orders from Auckland. Tho Karepo took 2966 sacks to Auckland this week and these are selling at from £6 to £6 5s ox tho wharf. There is not another shipment leaving until next Tuesday, when the Kartigi leaves. It is expected that she will take a fairly heavy shipment. Quotations to-day are 95s for Whites and 97s 6d for Dakotas a ton; April-June, £4 10s; July-September, £5 10s; July alone, £5 a ton. The prico to farmers is £3 10s a ton on trucks.

The onion market continues very low and there has been a further easing tendency apparent during tho last three days. Sales havo been made nt 35s per ton. The chief hindrance to the market is that thero is no outlet.

Bran roso 10s a ton to £7 10s f.o.b. yesterday to fall in lino with' tho prices ruling in Australia. This brings it level with pollard, which is also £7 10s a ton f.o.b. at tho moment.
