THE COUNTRY HOME.

HELP FOR HOUSEWIVES.

A plea for the closer co-operation of country housewives in fostering the work of tlio housekeeping section of the women s division of tlio Farmers' Union, which supplies suitable housekeepers to members who might otherwise have uilliculty in getting temporary assistance in their homes, was made bv the president of the Morrinsvillo branch, Mrs. A. I. Walker, in her report presented to the annual meeting at Morrinsvillo. "The Morrinsvillo branch has employed five housekeepers for 25 weeks during this year, and we are hoping for even better results during th» coming year," she stated. From January to March their were more applications than could lie coped with. These were spasmodic. Sometimes no one was looking for help, while at other times it has been impossible to fill applications. Considerable difficulty has been experienced in getting and keeping suitable housekoepers, but as far as we know employers in our district have been quito satisfied with the women sfont. Members would greatly assist the housekeeping committeo if they would givo as much notice as possible when they require help. Six branches in the South Auckland area have affiliated to form the South Auckland Provincial Executive, with headquarters at Hamilton, which controls the housekeepers for the branches. This enables the housekeeping scheme to be worked from a more convenient centre than previously. Meetings are held at Hamilton every two months, to which each branch sends three delegates. Discussion on their problems was proving helpful.
