CASE OF MR. J. E. BYRNE.

TRAGEDY IN A STABLE.

(Received April 9. 10.45 p.m.) SYDNEY, April 9,

At tho inquest concerning tho death of Mr. John E. Byrne tho coroner roturned a verdict that it was duo to a bullet wound accidentally self-inflicted.

Mr. John Edwin Byrne, a prominent Sydney racehorse owner and trainer at Mascot, died on March 18. It transpired that he had heard a strange noiso in his' stables. Ho armed himself with a revolver and went to investigate. Later ho was found dying with a bullet wound under his heart. There was one empty cartridge in the revolver. Tho police thought it possible that Mr. Byrne was shot with his own weapon during a struggle with an intruder.
