SUPPORT FOR COMMITTEE.
RAILWAYMEN AND CARPENTERS

Further support for tho committee which is investigating tho operation of the Workers' Compensation Act is reported. To-morrow evidenco will I bo given by Mr. L. Mcllvride, general secretary of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants, on behalf of over 9000 members, all of whom come under the Act. Tho Wellington City branch of the Amalgamated Society of Carpenters and Joiners has considered the attitude of the Alliance of Labour regarding tho inquiry, and has unanimously decided to support the committen and to give evidence if necessai-y or desirable. Representatives of the New Zealand Dairy Farmers' Union, tho New Zealand Farmers' Union, tho Department of Health, oil companies, and Messrs. M. J. Reardon and P. J. O'Rcgan, of Wellington, havo addressed tho committeo.
The committee resumed its deliberations to-day, and will continue its sittings until further notice.
