EXPLOSIVES INSPECTOR.

APPOINTMENT ANNOUNCED.

[hy telegraph.—press association.] WELLINGTON, Wednesday.

Tho appointment of Mr. R. Girling Butcher as chief inspector of explosives was announced to-night by the Public Servico Commissioner, Mr. P. Verschaffelt. The position was previously held by tho Dominion analyst, Dr. J. S, Maclaurin, who retired from the public service last week. For some time Mr. Girling Butcher has been dpputy-chief inspector of explosives.
