The match between the Australian test cricket :eam and Western Australia was continual yesterday in extremely sultry weather. The attendance was 10,000 and the gate takings were £715. Western Australia had made 167 and the Australian team 59 for-one wicket on the first day.

Australia gave a good display of batting. The innings ended about tea-time, having produced 324 runs in 250 minutes. Bradman made 20 in 10 minutes by hitting everything, and was easily caught when he had made 27.

Kippax began slowly and gave a careiul display, taking 97 minutes for 50 runs ahd 151 minutes for the century. He then hit everything and threw his wicket away with an easy catch when he had made 114.- Ricnardsou in compiling 45 in 42 minutes displayed sparkling batting. He hit/ eight lours. .Australia's innings lasted 250 minutes. Tho Western Australians were apparently tired on the resumption and made a poor showing.
