SALARY REDUCTIONS.

NEW SOUTH WALES STATE* ACTION BY GOVERNMENT. SYDNEY, March 22. The New South Wales Ministers are convinced that the salaries of Cabinet Ministers, members of Parliament apd public servants must be reduced. The amount has not yet been determined, but it is believed that it will be 10 per cent.

The Government will probably decide to revert to the 48 hours' week in the Public Service, and also to the five and a-half days' week for the administrative staffs. The police, school teachers, rail- x way and tramway workers will all be included in the scheme.

The secretary of the Public Works Association announces that his organisation will oppose any reduction in salaries. The Teachers' Federation takes the same stand. '
