WELLINGTON CARILLON.
LEADING PLAYER SECURED, SERVICES FOR THE OPENING. ■[BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON. Sunday. During the recent visit of Mr. Barlow Cadbury to New Zealand; oportunity was taken to approach him with reference to securing the services of Mr. Clifford Ball, England's premier carillonneur, for the opening recitals in Wellington of Wellington's war memorial carillon.
Word has now been received by cable that the proposal has been agreed to, and Messrs. Cadbury Brothers, Limited, have offered the services of Mr. Ball at what practically amounts to no cost to New Zealand. Mr. Ball's salary and travelling expenses are being provided by tho firm. Mr. Ball is the official carillonneur for the Bournville carillon, and Cadburys frequently made his services available for , playing the Wellington carillon at tSe Newcastle-on-Tyne exhibition. He also played the carillon at the recent recitals in Hyde Park, London. It is estimated the official opening olf ' ' the carillon at Wellington will be between next November and February.
