BOY DRINKS POISON.

SEQUEL TO ARREST. CONDITION NOT SERIOUS. While in custody at the central police station, a boy aged 16 drank portion of the contents of a bottle containing poison and was removed to the Auckland Hospital suffering from the effects. With a companion of about the same age. the boy was arrested by a constable who saw them driving in a motor-car which had been reported missing.

Afc the police station the constable saw that one of the lads had a bottle to his lips. He snatched it away but not before some of <ihe contents had been swallowed by the boy. He became ill and it was necessary to remove him to the hospital. The condition of the boy was stated to he satisfactory last evening. Later the two will appear before the Children s Court.
