LONG DRY PERIOD.
LITTLE RAIN IN MARCH. So far March has been one of the driest months experienced in Auckland. Only .Olin. of rain has fallen. Following abnormally wet weather in January, and two days of heavy rain in February, the weather for tlio past six weeks has been more like the " Indian summer" of North America than the usual autumn weather experienced in this country. Continuous sunshine and cool evenings have revealed Auckland weather at its best. Barometric pressure has been well maintained during the paist six weeks, the pressure of 30.40 in. on March 16 being the highest recorded this year. During last week there was a gradual fall untii 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon, when the reading was 29.90 in. Slight rain fell yesterday afternoon, but immediately afterwards the barometer commenced to rise and at midnight the reading was steady at 29.95 in.
