POLAR EXPLORATION.

VALUE OF AEROPLANES. DISCOUNTED BY WILKINS. NEW YORK. March 20. Sir Hubert Wilkins, in an interview said he would not use an aeroplane in all further expeditions to the Arctic and Antarctic. "The aeroplane," he said, "is suitable for preliminary reconnoitring. It, is not, : however, of ?ny use in making detailed surveys or scientific studies of land already discovered. No doubt a great deal of reconnaissance work remains to be done in both the Arctic and the Antarctic, but as far as I am concerned I am through with flying in either place."
