MISSING PRIEST.
COAT AND HAT FOUND. ON END OF PETONE WHARF. [by telegraph.—own correspondent.] WELLINGTON, Friday. The police have ascertained that a coat and hat discovered on the Petone wharf yesterday morning belonged to the Rev. Father Fallon; of Lower Hutt, who has been missing from his home since Wednesday evening last. Father Fallon conducted devotions on Wednesday, evening, and although he has been recently suffering severely from insomnia appeared then to be in his usual state of health.
A report has been given to the police by a young man that, as he was passing along the Petone Esplanade at 1.30 a.m. on Thursday,. he heard a cry for help, but not hearing the cry repeated he went only half-way along the wharf. The hat and coat, were found at the end of the wharf, and .the police have dragged the. harbour in the vicinity of the spot. No body has been discovered, however, and the operations are being continued.
