UP-SIDE-DOWN WRITER.

BOY'S CURIOUS VISION, A scholar at Burnopfield Council School, Durham, does all bis writing and figuring upside-down. The scholar is Leonard Fawcett, aged 10, the eldest son of a family of three. He is considered by headmaster and" teachei's to be one of the best writers the school has known for a considerable number of years, although only in the fourth standard—yet his caligraphy and figuring is executed all in an inverted position. Ever since he commenced school five years ago, endeavours have been made by the teachers to try to teach Leonard to write in the proper method. All these efforts have proved unavailing. His method is to turn his exercise or copy book upside-down and commence his lessons, and when completed turn the book back again. Besides having won distinction in the village of Burnopfield by his me'thod of writing, Leonard has also won jjrizes at local shows with his black and white miscellaneous drawings, which show technique and perspective rarely found ip onfl of auch tender years*
