JENKIN DEFEATS WETHERILT.

VICTORY BY FIVE POINTS.

The final game in the champion pairs tournament took place on the Carlton green yesterday between Gladding and Jenkin, holders of the Dominion pairs title, and Elliott and Wetherilt. Both pairs represented the Carlton Club. The game resulted in a win for the Dominion champions, who, by their latest achievement, have established a record, not only in winning two important events, but also in winning 18 games in succession. The final score was: —-Jenkin, 19; Wetheiilt, 14. The losers made a very fair bid for the honours. However, on the day they were beaten by a better team. The game yesterday was not as interesting a ono as the semi-final on the previous day.

Both leads were a little astray on the first head, with Elliott lying one. Wethorilt drew his first on the jack and Jenkin failed to heat it. On the second head Elliott played wide and let Gladding have three shots close to the jack. Wetherilt drew second shot, making the score one all.

Gladding was three up on the next head until Elliott drew a second with his last bowl. Wetherilt drew one and pushed another in for shot. The score was three to ono in Wetherilt's favour. Elliott drew a toucher with his last bowl on tho fourth head, Gladding just failing to dislodge it. Wetherilt trailed the jack back to ono of Gladding's back bowls and ho was ono down. Play improved on tho fifth head. Gladding drew a good ono with his second bowl, but Elliott beat it with his next. Gladding failed with his third and last bowls. Wetherilt added ono with his second bowl, but Jenkin drew the absolute with his next. Wetherilt played strong to tho head and scored two. Jenkin had a run and knocked out one. The score then was; Jenkin, 2; Wetherilt, 4. Jenkin Gains Lead. The leads appeared to be afraid to get too close to the jack on the sixth head, but Gladding held shot when the changeover came. With his final bowl Jenkin sent the jack bark to ono of Wetherilt's bowls and the latter got one. On the seventh head Elliott drew one on the white with his first, which Gladding replaced with his second and lay on kitty for ono. Jenkin trailed kitty for four with liis second bowl, but Wetherilt drew one close with his last, saving two.

Gladding drew one with his second on tho eighth, and added another with his last. Jenkin drew a toucher with his third bowl and lay two. Wetherilt failed. The score then was: Jenkin, 6; Wetherilt, 5. Gladding drew two on the next, but Elliott stole kitty with his second and added another good ono with his last. Jenkin drove with his second and third bowls and missed, Wetherilt added onr.

Gladding was lying two when the skips changed ends at tho tenth. Wetherilt drew tho shot with his first. Jenkin drove the shot bowl out and lay two. The score was then eight all. Gladding drew two shots on the eleventh. These Elliott beat with his second. Gladding promoted ono of his bowls to shot with his last. Jenkin made it two. Gladding lay one when the skips changed over on the twelfth. The position was not altered. This made Jenkin 11, and Wetherilt 8. Issue Still in Doubt.

Gladding drew a fine shot with his first, on the thirteenth. Elliott just failed to beat this with his four beautiful bowls. Wetherilt pushed up ono of Jenkin's bowls for two, and burned the head with his last. Gladding drew two on the re-play, and this score was not altered. Gladding drew one close to the white on the fourteenth. Elliott beat it and lay on kitty. Gladding drove and burned the head. On the re-play Gladding drew well and lay four nice ones when the skips went up. Wetherilt pushed two out with a fast one and with his last promoted a front bowl to ishot. Jenkin \vas (hen 13, and Wetherilt 9.

. At the fifteenth head Elliott drew a nice shot with his first and added another with his second. Gladding beat them with his second. Jenkin made a threo when Wetherilt ran up and lay two. Gladding, drawing well, lay two when the skips changed at the sixteenth. Wetherilt drew second shot and drove to take out the two shots. Jenkin drew one with his last. The score was:—Jenkin, 14; Wetherilt, 11. Elliott drew one shot and Wetherilt added another on the seventeenth, thus reducing Jenkin's lead to one. Gladding drew two handy shots on the next and Wetherilt displaced one. Gladding drew one a yard in front of kitty on the nineteenth. Elliott put one a foot behind, but Gladding made it two with his third and fourth. Elliott with his last picked up the white, and lay one. The skips failed to alter the position. The score then was:—Jenkin, 15; Wetherilt, 14. The Concluding Heads.

Gladding put hia first close up short of the jack, on the twentieth h§ad. Elliott beat this with a toucher on his second. Gladding picked his own bowl up for shot and added another with his last bowl. Wetherilt drove three bowls and with his third disturbed the head, kitty going out to the line with Jenkin one up, to. which he added two more. Jenkin was then 18, and Wetherilt 14. On the iast head Gladding was drawing at the top of his form and was lying three lovely shots when the skips ohanged. Jenkin put his first at the back. Wetherilt drove and took out one shot. Jenkin played short. Wetherilt with his nost drive took out anpther, leaving Jenkin one up. The final score was:—Jenkin, 19; Wetherilt, 14.
