MINING NEWS.

WAIHI CRUSHING RETURNS. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WAIHI, Friday. The following information has been cabled to the London' office of the Waihi Goldmining Company:— For the period ended March 8 we crushed 17,857 tons of ore for a result of 7080 fine ounces of gold and 40,056 fine ounces of silver. This includes 1406 tons mined from the Junction area, which yielded 7960z. of gold and 18,9730z. of silver; also 3320z/ of gold and 500oz. of silver from residues from the old Waihi mill site.

No. 10 Level.—ln the drive west on the Empire lode from the London south crosscut the next 36ft. assays 45s 9d a ton. The width of the lode varied from 2ft. to sft., and is now small. Martha lode: The east drive from the boundary crosscut was advanced a further 36ft., the assay value for this distance being 30s 3d a ton. The width of quartz is about 4ft. Driving west of the boundary crosscut tho next 41ft. is of little or no value. Wo have now holed through to former workings. No. 13 Level.—ln the crosscut to the south-east we met with a carbonaceous seam at 215 ft. in. We have now commenced driving along the south wall of the .Martha lode at ,129{t. in the crosscut.
