LAND FOR USE AS DUMP.
TAKAPUNA COUNCIL'S OPTION
An alternative lias been found to +he system of clumping collected offensive matter into a street opening in the drainage works at Milford, which was the subject of an indignant protest by a large deputation at this week's meeting, of tho Takapuna Borough Council. An arch of nino acres of country land, situated near tho main road several miles beyond tho borough boundary, has been placed under offer to the council for purchase as a dump, and is considered very suitable for tlio purpose. The municipal authorities have taken an option over the property for two months, to ascertain the views of the Health Department- and tho Waitemata County Council in the matter. Meanwhile Mr. J. A. Algie has given notico to rnovo at tho next meeting that -the resolution authorising the system which has caused suoh a ferment on the part of Milford residents should be rescinded.
