WAR DEBT BURDEN.

RECEIPTS AND PAYMENTS. BALANCE AGAINST BRITAIN. British "Wireless. RUGBY, March 10. The Chancellor of the Exchequer, Mr. Philip Snowden, stated in the House of Commons to-day that the total sum repaid to the United States on account of Britain's war 'debt by the end of the present financial year would be £279,473,000. Against that she would have received to the same date about £98,000,000 on account of reparation and £48,825,000 on account of Allied war debts.

Therefore the aggregate receipts would have fallen short of the aggregate payments by more than £132,000,000.

The deficiency would be close on £200,000,000 if interest on past payments and receipts were taken into account.
