It was decided- that the question of making some payment toward the support of wives and families of prisoners who may be sentenced to terms of imprisonment of- less than three months should be brought under the notice of tho authorities. A Wanganui remit was carried, urging the necessity for tho establishment of " half-way " houses for mental patientj. The next conference is to ho held at Wanganui. Reference was made to the fine work of Mr. I. Salek, of Wellington, the registrar of the federation. Fitting recognition of hU services is to be made,.
