SWARMS OF EARWIGS.

PESTS IN SOUTHLAND. / Householders at Ohai, Southland, are troubled by - swarms of earwigs. These pests, making their way into larders, pantries and beds, are causing great discomfort in the township. Last summer was the first time they were seen there, and then only in small numbers. This year, howevef, they have appeared in astonishing force, and householders are at their wit's end to adopt measures to exterminate them. It is no strange sight to see residents at night going round the houses by torchlight armed with buckets of boiling water.
