HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST.
The following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied to us by Mr. H. M. Vincent last evening :—Fair to cloudy weather is indicated, becoming overcast and hazy shortly) and a scattered rainfall following, particularly in the northern districts. The weather is likely to become gradually unsettled elsewhere. Variable and moderate breezes, northerly to northeasterly winds, moderate to strong, prevailing, and freshening. Seas moderate. Barometric pressure is now steadily decreasing under the influence of the tropical disturbance developing north-west-ward of the Dominion, another depression being located on the western Tasman Sea. Local outlook: Fair and hazy to overcast, with localised thundershowera.

The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows: —The depression moving across the southern Tasman Sea has reached southern New Zealand. Barometers have risen over eastern Australia. Indications are for northerly winds prevailing at first and freshening about Cook and Foveaux Straits, later a change to southerlies advancing from the south. Seas rather rough in Cook Strait and later south of Akaroa, elsewhere smooth to moderate. Moderate northerly, later backing to fresh southerly winds in the eastern Tasman Sea. Seas moderate at first, but later becoming rather rough. The weather will, be fair at first anc! warm, with scattered showers developing later south of New Plymouth and Napier, but more especially in Otago and Southland. Temperatures becoming cooler following the southerly change. RAINFALL RECORD.
