POWER FOR WHAKATANE.

DUAL SOURCE OF SUPPLY.; WAIKAREMOANA AND ARAPUNI. [UV TELEGII Al'll. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WHAKATANE, Thursday. A decision of considerable importance to this district whereby tho power lino from Waikareinoana is to join tko Arapuni Ijno at Edgecumbe has been arrived at by tho Public Works Department. This proposal has been advocated for somo time by the Bay of Plenty Power Board, and will result in a slight deviation of the route originally intended for tho line.

The advantage to the board's district will be that it will have a dual supply, of current, and in the event of a breakdown on one line, the other will bo available. . Tho survey of -the routo for the Waikaremoaua line is : practically completed. It is understood that the line will be taken to Galatea via' Te Whaiti, and thence down the Rungitaiki River to Edgeciunbc. - Alterations to the-existing lino between Arapuni and Edgecumbe are being undertaken.
