SHORT RUN OF REVUE.
WITHDRAWN FOR REHEARSAL
OSCAR ASCHE AND CRITICS.
LONDON, March 10
The production by Mr. Oscar Asche of " Intimate Revue" proved rather overintimate, according to soma, first-night critics, who assert that they were inclined to join in giggling with the audi ence at the unaccustomed glimpses of what was occurring behind the scenes. The general impression was that there was a lack of rehearsals, extending to the stage-hands. Sometimes the curtains dropped on the performers, sometimes they re-opened giving intimate views of the "between-seen© preparations. The lighting effects also showed confusion of intention and effect.
The more 6erious criticisms complained that the chorus lacked rehearsals and the whole 6how lacked ".pep," but stated that it should be a good show after a few performances. The management took the criticisms in good part, and hurriedly decided to withdraw tho revue immediately for further rehearsals. Notices have been sent out to the public announcing that it will not be played to-night. The entire cast was summoned to an afternoon "rehearsal. The producers hope for a fresh start, and posEibljpa .fresh edition of the play, in about p, "fortnight. Meanwhile historians and logicians are disputing whether it can be regarded as a record shortest run..
