COMMEMORATIVE PORTRAIT.
. - . LONDON, March 11. [ The kindness of the Duchess of York ®nd the .Strathmore family to wounded 'Australian soldiers at the time of the Great War, notably to those from Castlemaine,r< "Victoria, who were nursed at Glamis. ; Castle, will-be commemorated by - a portrait of the Duchess, which Mr. James Quinn will paint in tho autumn. Returned wounded have long felt that their art gallery, devoted, solely to Australian artists, was incomplete without a commemoration portrait of the Duchess, whose nprsing achievements during the war are well known.
The director of the Art Gallery, through the Prime Minister of Australia, Mr. J. H. Scullin, and the High Commissioner, Sir Granville Pyrie, has approached tho Duchess, who has consented to give sis (sittings. Mr. Quinn was chosen to paint tho portrait because he is from Castlemaine.
T;hs portrait will be three-quarter length, but- whether in day or evening has not yet been decided.
