ATTACK ON WOMAN.

STRUGGLE IN DOMAIN.

MAN SNATCHES HANDBAG DARING DAYLIGHT ROBBERY. A daring and violent attack on 3 woman occurred in the Auckland Domain yesterday afternoon, when Mrs. .Isa McKay, a visitor from Sydney, was thrown heavily to the ground and robbed of her handbag by a man who sprang out from the shelter of some bushes. So sudden was the attack that the „man escaped within a few seconds, and an extensive search of the Domain by pglice and detectives failed to produce any clue to his identity. With Mr. E. F. Warren, retired deputy. Public Trustee in Auckland, who lives afc 3, Glen Road, Remuera, Sirs. McKay visited the War Memorial Museum, and afterwards had afternoon tea at the kiosk. It was about 3.30 when th<fy left the kiosk for the Parnell entrance to tha Domain Drive, and they had almost reached the United Club's tennis courts when the attack was made. The man sprang from the bushes which line the Drive, and flung himself with great violence upon Mrs. McKay, who was thrown heavily into a ditch. After a short struggle, in which Mrs. McKay's clothing was torn, the man snatched her handbag and made off before Mr. Warren could do anything. The tennis courts were deserted at the time; and there was nobody in sight to pursue the man.

Mrs. McKay, who is staying at 11, Cambridge Terrace, Devonport, suffered a severely sprained ankle and a bruised knee. The handbag contained her return ticket to Sydney and money amounting to about £2, besides other personal belongings.

A passing car took Mr. Warren and Mrs. McKay to the police station, and a search was begun immediately.
