TRAM FARE NOT PAID.

MAGISTRATE IMPOSES FINE

Stated to have given trouble on previous occasions, H. Faulkner was charged in the Police Court yesterday with attempting to evade payment of his fare on a tramcar. Mr. Butler prosecuted for the Auckland Transport Board. Evidence showed that defendant ■ had boarded a tramcar and had paid only a twopenny fare for the journoy to Burnley Terrace, off Dominion Road. When he was asked for a further fare he stated that he had no money. Opportunity was given him to pay the fare to the board but he failed to do so. He had caused trouble on previous occasions. The magistrate, Mr. W. R. McKean, imposed a fine of £l, and ordered Faulkner to pay costs totalling £2 Os 6d.
