COST OF SCHOOL BOOKS.
BURDEN ON PARENTS.
FREQUENT CHANGES MADE
A protest at the high prices parents have fo pay for school readers and other books was made by Mr. C. «T. Lovegrove, of St. Heliers Bay, at the quarterly meeting of the Auckland Primary School Committees' Association last evening. He said there was a pressing need of better and cheaper school books, and it was absurd that parents should have to pay such prices for their children's books. Another matter calling for adjustment was the constant changing of text-books. This meant that if a parent had one child following another, through school, ho hacf to buy new books for both each year, instead of the younger- being able to use those with which the elder had finished. It was decided to circularise all members of Parliament, pointing out the excessive prices parents were being asked" to pay for school books.
