THE LABOUR VIEWPOINT.
Suggestions of co-operation between tho Labour and tho Liberal Parties have, however, been rejected by tho Daily Herald, the organ of the Labour Tarty, which discussed the position in the following terms: —"What is the Government to do in face of Mr. Lloyd George's impossible attitude? When he nearly succeeded in defeating the Government on tlie Coal Bill the Daily Herald suggested to the Premier that if ho declined to stand any further nonsense from the Liberal Leader and appealed to the country for a clear majority on the first adverse Commons vote on a major issue, he would have the united and enthusiastic support of the Labour movement. There are unmistakable signs in tho country that large numbers of Radicals are coming over to the Labour Party. Trior to the general election there was a marked drift in that direction, which was temporaril}' stemmed by the Liberal programme with its meretricious promise to reduce unemployment to 'normal' in 12 months by the clock. The trick failed and disillusionment among Radicals, coupled with the dazzling successes of tho Government in foreign affairs, has again set tho tide more strongly than ever in the direction of Labour. The flow of recruits can be stimulated throughout the country if Labour propagandists persistently point out that the prospects of the legislative harvest are being marred by Mr. Lloyd George and those misguided enough to follow him."
