HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST,
The following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied to us by Mr. H. M. Vincent last evening:—Fair and warm weather is indicated generally, although with increasing cloudiness for change to follow shortly in northern districts. There are indications of the development of a disturbance of tropical character north-west-ward of the Dominion. Easterly to northeasterly winds, moderate to strong, prevailing shortly and freshening in the north. Seas moderate, although with an increasing tendency on this east coast. Local outlook: Fair and wai-m, with increasing cloudiness. Barometer, midnight, steady .. 3(Moln. Midnight, Sunday .. .. 30.45 in. GOVERNMENT REPORT.' The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows: —Slight low-pres-sure waves continue to move south of New Zealand, but a riso of pressure is likely lo take place there shortly. Barometers have remained high in the north and they are also high over the greater part of Australia. Indications are for northerly winds north of Westport and Kaikoura; 1 mainly light to moderate, but fresh at first in Cook Strait; elsewhere variable and later winds generally becoming variable. Seas generally smooth to moderate but rough at first about Cook Strait. Light to moderate variable winds with smooth to moderate seas in the eastern Tasman Sea. Weather mainly fair, but cloudy and misty in places in and south of Cook Strait, with some scattered showers. Temperatures becoming somewhat cooler. RAINFALL RECORD.
