WOMEN'S WELCOME.
GREETINGS BY RADIO.
NOVEL METHOD USED. INTEREST IN THE INSTITUTE. [BY TELEOEAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, Monday. An enterprising course of extending the first welcome to Lady Bledisloe on behalf of the women of New Zealand associated with the Women's Institute was taken to-night by Miss Agnes M. Stops when speaking from 2YA on the subject of women's institutes. Explaining that Lady Bledisloe was keenly interested in the Women's Institute, which has done so much not only in Great Britain, but in 40 other countries in tho world, Miss Slops said that wireless advice had been given to Lady Bledisloe of tho talk and welcome and a request had been made that she should listen in. It was estimated that Lady Bledisloe would be little more than 200 miles away and the welcome was timely.
Speaking into the microphone, Miss Stops then said: "Lady Bledisloe, I hope you are able to hear me. On behalf of Miss Jerome Spencer, chief organiser of the- Women's Institute in New Zealand, and of the members of the institute throughout tho Dominion, it gives me most intense pleasure to use the modern means of radio to extend to you the first definite greeting from this country and from the women of New Zealand, and to express a hope that you will have a happy sojourn among us."
