MAHENO LEAVES MELBOURNE. The Union Company's passenger steamer Mahenc is reported to have cleared Melbourne yesterday for "Wellington, via Bluff, Dunedin and Lyttelton. She is scheduled to reach Wellington on March 21. PORT SYDNEY AT LONDON. Teh Commonwealth and Dominion Line steamer Port Sydney ia reported to have reached London from New Zealand on Thursday. She was despatched from Napier on February 1. DRIFTING LOG SIGHTED. Tho superintendent of mercantile marine has been advised that a large log, which is a danger to navigation, has been observed drifting off the East Coast one mile and a-half north, 75deg. east from Table Capo. THE WAIRUNA. The TJnion Company's transpacific steamer Wairuna is reported to have readied San from Vancouver on Wednesday to continue loading for Melbourne and Sydney. She will complete loading at Lob Angeles. ULIMAROA LEAVES SYDNEY. The Huddart-Parker steamer Ulimaroa was despatched from Sydney for Auckland at mid-day yesterday with passengers, mail and cargo. She iB due on Tuesday morning. „ AORANGI AT SUVA. The Royal Mail liner Aorangi reached Suva from Auckland at 1.30 yesterday and was to sail at 7.30 last evening, in continuation of her voyage to Honolulu and Vancouver. She is due at Vancouver on March 28. MARAMA SAILED. The Union Company's intercolonial steamer Marama was despatched from Auckland for Sydney yesterday afternoon 'ivith passengers, mail and cargo. The vesseil is due at Sydney on Tuesday morning, and she is to sail for Wellington on Friday. THE TUTANEKAI. The Government steamer Tutanekai will arrive from the Hauraki Gulf to-day and will berth at King's Wharf for the weekend. On Monday tho vessel will leave again for the Gulf to continue overhauling tho buoys and beacons. When tho work has been completed she will return to port to load stores for tho northern lighthouseii. THE KAIMIRO. The Kaimiro left Picton for Lyttelton at one o'clock on Thursday morning and left Lyttelton for Auckland yesterday afternoon. She is due on Monday. In addition to cargo from Southern ports the vessel has general merchandise from Edithburg and Wallaroo for discharge at Auckland and Portland. CORINTHIC DUE TO-NIGHT. The Shaw, Savill and Albion liner Corintliic is due from London and Southampton at midnight to-night and will anch&r in tho stream. To-morrow morning the vessel will berth at Prince's Wharf to land passengers and mail for New Zealand and general merchandise for Auckland. The remainder of the cargo is for Wellington. L. D. Line's chartered steamer City of Lincoln, which was scheduled to reach Auckland from New York nest Wednesday, cast a propeller blade last Monday and will not arrive unti] March 25. Wireless advice to this effect has been received by the local office of the New Zealand Shipping Company. The vessel has general merchandise for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Timaru, Dunedin and Wanganui. PAKE HA FROM ANTWERP. The Shaw, Savill and Albion steamer Pakeha, which is due from Antwerp, at six o'clock this morning, will berth at King's Wharf to unload her cargo of 5800 tons of basic slag to the agency ot A. S. Paterson and Company, Limited. After discharge the Pakeha is to load for her homeward voyage at New Plymouth, Napier, Wellington and 1 Auckland. She is to be despatched finally from Auckland for Rotterdam, Hamburg and London on April 15.

THE MATAKANA. The Shaw, Savill and Albion steamer Matakana was to leave Gisborne for Auckland at four o'clock yesterday afternoon to continue loading refrigerated and general cargo for London and West Coast ports of Great Britain. She is due abtfut mid day to-day and will berth at Central Wharf. From Auckland the vessel will go to Wellington and Lyttelton to complete her cargo. L. D. Nathan and Company, Limited, are the local agents. WAIPIATA HAS KATOA'S CARGO. After loading at South Island ports the Waipiata left Lyttelton yesterday and :is to clear Wellington for Auckland to-day. ..She is clue at tjis port on Tuesday morning. The Katoa was originally scheduled to load at South Island ports for Auckland, bu't the itinerary was changed and she was despatched from Dunedin to Westport instead. The Waipiata is bringing general cargo, which was to have been forwarded by the Katoa, and consequently some of the Waipiata's cargo will be per Katoa's bills of lading. THE HERTFORD. With general merchandise from West Coast ports of Great Britain the Federal Line steamer Hertford arrived from Liverpool early yesterday morning and is unloading cargo for Auckland at Queen's Wharf. On Wednesday she is to resume her voyage to Wellington. Lyttelton, Port Chalmers, Bluff and New Plymouth to complete discharge. The cargo was loaded at Avonmouth, Newport, Glasgow and Liverpool. The Hertford sailed from Liverpool on February 2. Two days after leaving port stormy westerly weather was encountered and continued for three dayß. Seas broke on board and flooded the decks. One very high wave crashed on board amidships and did considerable; damage on the boat deck. After the storm area was passed generally fair weather prevailed during the remainder of the voyage. The vessel reached Colon on February 19 and cleared Balboa the same day. Captain J. Burton Davies is in command and he has associated with him the following officers:—Chief, Mr. J. F.
