YACHTING.
DEVONPORT CLUB'S RACES. A cruising race to Matiatia for the H. L and N classes under the auspices of the Devonport Yacht Club will be held this afternoon. Harbour events for the M, T and Star classes will also be sailed, all starting off Victoria Wharf. Following are the entries and handicaps : 11, L and N Class, to start at 2.30 p.m. Coarse, from starting line between eastern end of Victoria Wharf and mark moored south to Matiatia, keeping outside Sandspit beacon and Rangitoto and Motutapu Islands, and finishing off entrance to the bay:—Starloch, on wind, scr, off wind scr; Omatere, sm, lm; Awatere, 6m, 3m; Eakoa, 7m, 8m; Why Not, 10m 9m. M Class, to start a£ 2.40 p.m. Course, from starting line, round Sandspit, thence round Resolution buoy, thence round mark off Stanley Bay, twice round, keeping marks to starboardMaroro, Manene, Maratea, Manu, Mawhiti and Matarere, all scr. T Class, to start at 2.50 p.m. Course same as M class: —Shalimar, scr; Ramona, 2m; Resolute, 7m. Star Class, to start at 3 p.m. Course same as M class: —Maid Marion, Moa, June, all scr. The officers for the day are:—Starter and timekeeper, Mr. W. A. Wilkinson; judge, Mr. G. Miller. Mr. A. T. Pressor will be judge at Matiatia, and Mr. E. A. Mann timekeeper.
