PATROL OF HIGHWAYS.
THREE COUNTIES CO-OPERATE [by telegraph.—own correspondent.] WHANGAREI. Friday. At to-day's meeting of the "Whangarei County Council, it was decided to cooperate with the Hobson and Otamatea Counties with a view to appointing a traffic inspector to patrol the highways of the three counties. The Highways Board is to pay half the inspector's wages and car allowance, and the three counties are to share the other half. The council decided to place a sum of £ll.OO on next year's estimates for the renovation of the present council chambers. The scheme includes a now meel-ing-roonj upstairs.
