NEW SPHERE FOR A WOMAN.

Appointed town prosecutor for Maybole, in place of her father, who died recently, Miss Aileen Paterson, a solicitor, is the first woman in Scotland to hold such a position. Miss Paterson is a graduate of Glasgow University, and was admitted as a solicitor s in 1926. She was the only applicant for the position left vacant by her father's death. The town council decided to give Miss Paterson the position onlv _ temporarily, and is to advertise for applications from men solicitors. Miss Paterson decided to submit' another application, which she hoped would bo considered on 'equal terms with those of her male rivals.
