FAST MOTOR RUN.
INVERCARGILL TO AUCKLAND
What is claimed to be a record motor run from Invercargill to Auckland concluded at 7.25 last evening, when a Morris Minor car, driven by Mr. Passmore, of Invercargill, arrived at the chief past office after a journey of 49 hours 55 minutes. The actual running time is given as 32 hours 16 minutes, which beats the previous record, made by a Baby Austin in January, by 41 minutes. Leaving Invercargill at 5.30 on Wednesday afternoon, the little car made a good run to Picton, and was coming north in good time, when it left the road near Wanganui on Thursday evening. A delay of some hours was caused and the prearranged schedule was therefore not adhered to. As a result of the delay the car did not reach Auckland until lastevening, instead of yesterday morning.
