ST. MARY'S CATHEDRAL.
SEVENTIETH ANNIVERSARY.
TO-MORROW'S SERVICES.
Large gatherings of past and present parishioners of St. Mary's Cathedral, Parnell. are expected at the 70th anniversary services to-morrow. The parish had among its early residents some of the most esteemed citizens of early Auckland, men ivho made their mark in Government, the Church, law, commerce and many other directions. Their descendants are scattered all over New Zealand and even further afield, but a large proportion of them reside in Auckland, and in Parnell. They are ties with the days when Bishop Sehvyn lived at Bishopsjpurt. Only a few years ago there were many old parishioners who vividly remembered him, although more than half a > century had passed since he bade New Zealand farewell. ' The preacher at the morning service to-morrow will be ArchUeacon MacMurray, 'who was vicar of the parish from 1892 until 1919. In the evening Archbishop Averill will deliver his last sermon before leaving for England to attend the Lambeth Conference. In the parish hall, after the evening service, descendants of Archdeacon tr A Kissling, first vicar of St. Mary's (186061) and first headmaster of St. Stephen's Maori School, will present the school with a framed portrait of him as a permanent memento of its early days. It is probable that a large muster of descendants, to the fourth generation, will attend the ceremony.
