THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE.
UNCERTAIN TONE CONTINUES.
A moderate volume of business was well spread over the various sections of the market on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday. Price fluctuations were again indicative of the prevailing uncertainty attending speculative and investment operations. In Government investments the only transaction was a sale of Inscribed Stocky 1936, s)j per cent., at £99 ss, which was 2s 6d' better than the last local deal. Steady inquiry brought no response from other holders in this section and in War Loans. In local body debentures Auckland Harbour Board, 1941, 6 per cent., were done at £lO2, representing a decline of £1 10s since the last sale was made a month ago. Hamilton Borough, 1935, SJ; per cent., changed hands at £9O. In banks Commercials of Australia recovered 3d with a salo at £1 Is lOd, and quotations closed firmer at £1 2s. Nationals of Australasia were dono early in the day 10s easier at £ls, and more were wanted at that figure, but quotations remained firm at £ls 2s 6d. New Zoalands had sale at £2 17s l£d, and later at £2 17s, which was 2d below the price of the previous day. New South Wales were quoted at £4O 5s at the morning call and hardened to £4O 10s, offers being raised to £4O without a deal resulting. Unions of Australia were quotod Is firmer at £l2 2s 6d. Steady inquiry in the insurance division was rewarded with only one transaction, Now Zealands changing hands 3d dearer at £2 3s 9d. In coal Grey Valleys made a currentprico sale at £1 6s 9d. The miscellaneous section produced several transactions in stocks which have not recently been active. A salo of Donaghy's Rope and Twines was reported at £1 14s. Milne and Choyce debenturo stock at £1 7s 3d was 3d better than when the last sale was made early in February. Whittome-Stevensons showed a decline of Is 6d with sale at £2. In mining Moanataiari? were done at the current price of 2s 2d. Waihis wero one penny better with a sale at 13s 7d.
